My Hero

Gordon B. Hinckley was and is my hero. Not only because of his many accomplishments by the building of so many temples, etc. but because of who he was as a person. You can tell just by looking at a picture of him that he is truly kind, sweet, and completely unselfish. He was the most optimistic person I've ever known. He was put in charge of so many problems and difficulties and he never doubted that they could be solved. At times where most people would freak out, be completely stressed out, or mad, President Hinckley was calm, peaceful and trusted in the Lord that everything was in his hands. I'm so so so grateful that I had him as an example, and Prophet in my life. In my dorm room up at college we had a picture of him in our living room. It was a constant reminder of who and what we should be like. I always considered him to be lie a grandpa to me. In October I was invited to go to General Conference. My parents didn't want me to go because it was too far away and bad weather. But I had a feeling I needed to go. I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to be in the same room as my hero, and beloved prophet of God. I was overwhelmed with the spirit the moment I saw him. I've been truly blessed to have had his presence on this beautiful earth for the past 18 years of my life. I miss him tremendously but I'm so grateful he is with God and his amazing wife. God be with you till we meet again President Hinckley.

Ah man. This made me happy when I read it. I am so glad that we made it down for conference that weekend. It was an amazing conference and we got to be in the same room as the Prophet. AMAZING! What an amazing man!
